Bio

Adam Cox is a geospatial software developer with a background in geographic information systems (GIS) and archaeology, and a passion for open source software. Originally from southwestern Wisconsin, he lives in New Orleans, Louisiana. Adam leads engineering and infrastructure development in the Healthy Regions and Policies Lab where he manages projects like the SDOH & Place Project, Opioid Environment Policy Scan, and the US Covid Atlas, while also facilitating open source collaboration with adjacent community projects like GeoBlacklight. He also created OldInsuranceMaps.net, a public web platform that streamlines collaborative georeferencing of historical fire insurance atlases and is used by institutions and hobbyists everyday for research and community engagement.
